Games for Linux
Overview
Usually, people think of Windows when it comes to PC gaming, as the majority of games on the market are primarily developed for that operating system. However, Linux is becoming a popular second choice, and even big stores like Steam are supporting it.
Although I don't game on Linux myself, I thought I'd help out fans of this operating system by setting aside this listing of the 101 games I've reviewed that can be run under Linux.

Games in this List
10,000,000
Brief thoughts: Even with the fantasy elements, this game is pretty clean. |
5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel
Brief thoughts: This video game is essentially an upgraded version of a very well known board game, so there's nothing remotely offensive to be found here. |
American Truck Simulator
Brief thoughts: Every so often, there's a new DLC or in game billboard that exists to raise awareness of some real life issue, but this is hardly a problem. |
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Brief thoughts: While there is a lot of dark and unsettling content, a key part of the game's storyline involves the player character redeeming themselves. Whether this is enough to offset everything else is up to you. |
Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs
Brief thoughts: There is a lot of graphic and sexual imagery in this game, but the way the antagonists have perverted and desecrated Christianity is particularly noteworthy. |
Among the Sleep
Brief thoughts: While this game may seem like a strange supernatural horror story, it's actually telling a pointed story about a common problem many families face - everything just seems supernatural and weird because the protagonist isn't old enough to understand what's really going on around them. |
And Yet it Moves
Brief thoughts: This is a very relaxing and non-violent game, even when you take into account how easily your character falls apart. |
Angry Video Game Nerd I and II Deluxe
Brief thoughts: The large amount of swearing and unnecessary gore in this game is a big issue, as is the level based around old erotic games. |
A Wizard's Lizard
Brief thoughts: Although some players may be uncomfortable with the way this game has their character fight on in the afterlife, a big problem is the way defeated enemies burst into a shower of blood and gore. Fortunately, this can be disabled by turning off particles in the options menu. |
Baba is You
Brief thoughts: Everything in this game, even the skulls and ghosts, are just a token or game piece to be manipulated. |
BallisticNG
Brief thoughts: This game is about as violent as any other run of the mill kart racer - which is to say it's extremely tame. |
Beat Hazard
Brief thoughts: While this game is full of bloodless carnage, it's not any more violent than classic arcade games. The only real issue is that the player can choose to play with inappropriate music, and that's pretty much your own fault. |
Bendy and the Ink Machine
Brief thoughts: There are a lot of dark concepts in this game, ranging from vaguely occult references to botched attempts at creating artificial life. On top of this, various characters are tortured or killed during the course of the story. |
Blasphemous
Brief thoughts: This game is not for the faint of heart, as it depicts gruesome violence, disturbingly detailed gore, twisted deformations of the human body, and a very distorted adaptation of Catholicism in which there is no real Salvation. |
Blocks that Matter
Brief thoughts: This game is very family friendly - at its worst, the player may squish mindless slimes by dropping a block on them, or the player's robot can be destroyed if it comes into contact with a hazard (slimes, lava, TNT etc). |
Blueberry Garden
Brief thoughts: The only issue with this game is that there's a hidden link to an old website that displayed comments posted by players. If the link still works, there's a chance that something inappropriate may be posted there. |
Borderlands 2
Brief thoughts: The Borderlands series is filled with objectionable content, be it the violent gunplay or the darker aspects of its lore. So while these games are a lot of fun, Christians should be wary of what these games depict. |
Catlateral Damage
Brief thoughts: The entire point of the game is to cause mayhem by knocking stuff over. In other words, you'll acting like a typical housecat. |
Cave Story
Cave Story is an incredibly popular Metroidvania game about a mute little robot. When he wakes up in a dark cave, he's lost his memory and sets out to explore. However, it soon becomes apparent that this floating island is in the middle of a dangerous war between a power-mad Doctor and a dwindling resistance. Brief thoughts: The plot of this game is focused around a war that pits the timid Mimigas against a mad scientist and his magical henchmen. Thus, characters die, there's a moderate amount of violence, and a lot of evil magic. At the same time, most of this is depicted in a family friendly manner - compare it to older Disney movies like Sleeping Beauty. |
Celeste
Brief thoughts: Celeste itself is a magical mountain that warps reality so that those who climb it are literally confronted with their own inner demons. Thus, things get rather spooky at points, but the catharsis is definitely worth it. |
Chime Sharp
Brief thoughts: This puzzle game doesn't have any objectionable content to worry about. |
Coloring Pixels
Have you ever tried a color by number kit? That's the idea behind Coloring Pixels. Each pixel displays a number, and you simply color the pixel using the color that number represents. There are a huge number of images to paint, and more come out as DLC on a regular basis! Brief thoughts: Since all you do here is color in images, the most offensive things you'll find here are puzzles depicting things from mythology or holidays like Halloween, and even then, everything is kept very family friendly. |
Cookie Clicker
This famous Idle Game is all about making cookies - one way or another. Brief thoughts: Although this game is just about making numbers increase, there are some concepts (especially in the later parts of the game) that may make Christians uncomfortable. |
