Pardon the dust! This page includes some jargon that hasn't been added to the site's glossary yet. I'll be around to fix this later, but sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime. |

Overview
This page features a list of 132 games I've reviewed that were particularly fun. Of course, lists like this are going to be subjective, but I suspect that many gamers will agree with most of my choices. That said, everyone is perfectly free to disagree with my silly opinion on the topic.
A word of caution though: the list below does not take into account how well a game fits into a Christian worldview. The only criteria being looked at here is whether or not it was fun to play.

SANCTUARY
Until you're able to support yourself again, a pastor is willing to let you stay at his church during the night. However, something about this place feels off, and during the first night, you'll discover why - this House of God is actually home to a group of demons! Brief thoughts: This is an explicitly Christian game, so there never was a chance of it containing offensive material - in fact, it does exactly the opposite by dropping some important reminders about our Faith! |

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter
Brief thoughts: There is a lot of blood and gore in this game, though it can be disabled or even turned into candy and glitter. Disabling the gore also has the side effect of making the over the top violence feel like slapstick or something you'd see in an old cartoon. On a different note, there is a brief scene at the end of the game that makes light of an important Catholic sacrament. |
|||||||||||
Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope
Brief thoughts: While there is some mild violence and fantasy magic, none of it is more serious than say, Disney's Sleeping Beauty. Even at its darkest, this is a very family friendly game. |
|||||||||||
Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows
Brief thoughts: Even though the you're playing as a villain, there's really nothing major to be concerned with in this title. |
|||||||||||
Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment
Brief thoughts: Like the other Shovel Knight games, there is some mild violence and a lot of fantasy magic in this game. However, the overall tone of this installment is much darker than the others, as the main character is both cursed and serving the villain against their will. |
|||||||||||
Shovel Knight: King of Cards
King Knight seeks the crown too, though he has a slightly unusual plan to gain it... Brief thoughts: King Knight's brat-like behavior is definitely not to be imitated, though it's never shown in a way that would encourage children to copy it. Otherwise, everything is fairly family friendly and not terribly worrisome. |

Simple Solitaire
Simple Solitaire is exactly what it claims to be: a simple, free version of Klondike solitaire for modern Windows systems. There aren't any fancy features like daily challenges or achievements, but do you really need them to enjoy playing solitaire? Brief thoughts: The only thing that may be objectionable about this game is an advertising banner shown at the bottom of the playfield. |
|||||||||||
Slime Rancher
Brief thoughts: The only real issue with this game comes from how the player views Casey. They are never shown, nor are we ever told if they are a man or a woman, so players may view Bea and Casey as a lesbian couple. This has no impact on the gameplay, however. |
|||||||||||
The Stanley Parable
Brief thoughts: This game actually has some interesting points to make about how we use (or abuse) our freedoms, which is pretty useful for us to keep in mind during our Christian walk. |
|||||||||||
Starbound
Brief thoughts: As they explore the universe, players will routinely find themselves combating hostile aliens and enemy factions. However, combat is not depicted graphically, as defeated enemies simply disappear. That's not to say that gore never appears in this game - there's a chance that a planet will be partially covered in flesh. Other issues revolve around the alien cultures, some of which feature unsettling elements like a Big Brother analogue or a cult that worships the game's ultimate evil. |
|||||||||||
Stardew Valley
Brief thoughts: There is some combat in this game, though it's very tame and to a degree, optional. The main concern with this title is how it depicts everyday life fairly realistically; bad things happen to everyone, and some characters make their lives worse by drinking heavily. On a different note, the player has the option to marry one of the townsfolk, including characters of the same gender. |
|||||||||||
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Brief thoughts: As you might expect, most of the gameplay revolves around shooting people and aliens with laser guns and other science fiction weaponry. However, while this typically only results in a puff of smoke, it is possible to find blood or human remains in some levels. |
|||||||||||
SteamWorld Dig
Brief thoughts: There is some combat, but it's not really worth worrying about. |
|||||||||||
Subnautica
Brief thoughts: This is a fairly clean game, considering that the player must both hunt for food and avoid being eaten themselves. The only other thing that may conflict with someone's Christian beliefs is the premise of life existing on other worlds, though this is a somewhat uncommon doctrine. |
|||||||||||
Subnautica: Below Zero
Brief thoughts: As with its predecessor, the player must hunt for food and avoid being eaten themselves. Also, this time the player must interact with intelligent alien life, which may be an issue for some Christians. |
|||||||||||
Super 3-D Noah's Ark
Brief thoughts: Although this game plays like any other First Person Shooter, you're scattering feed instead of firing bullets. Thus, enemies who are defeated simply fall asleep instead of dying. |
|||||||||||
Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds
Brief thoughts: Your ball of goo will consume literally everything over the course of the game, though this is never depicted graphically. Nor is it ever taken seriously. |
|||||||||||
Terraria
Brief thoughts: There's a lot of combat in this game, though players can turn off most of the more graphic stuff via a menu option. Beyond this, most of the magical concepts in Terraria have a Lovecraftian bent to them, and you'll even need to use evil altars in order to progress. |
|||||||||||
theHunter: Call of the Wild
Brief thoughts: This is a fairly realistic hunting simulator - where you stand on hunting will likely determine whether or not you'll enjoy it, though there's nothing stopping you from just exploring and enjoying the sights. |
|||||||||||
The Treasures of Montezuma 4
Brief thoughts: Perhaps the gravest concern about this game is that it's story revolves around the concept of ancient magic and the ability of souls to be reborn after death. Beyond that, this is a pretty standard puzzle game with no real issues. |
|||||||||||
Ultimate Chicken Horse
Brief thoughts: The rule of the game is to be the only one who can survive the obstacle course you've built, but since failing only amounts to your character's eyes getting crossed out, there's nothing to really worry about. |
|||||||||||
Undertale
Brief thoughts: An important thing to remember about this game is that its story changes based on your actions. If the you are cruel, then things become very dark and depressing, and it's even possible to permanently stain your game with your evil actions. But, if you treat the monsters kindly, the game's world becomes increasingly colorful and comedic. In fact, to reach the best ending, you must show kindness to everyone, even those who aren't deserving of it, which many people find to be a very Christian message. |
|||||||||||
Untitled Goose Game
Brief thoughts: The biggest issue with this game is that the player is encouraged to pull practical jokes on people. While most of these are fairly harmless, there are a few that shouldn't be imitated in real life. |
|||||||||||
Viscera Cleanup Detail
Brief thoughts: This game features an astounding amount of blood and gore, which makes sense considering you're supposed to clean it all up. There's also some swearing, and a number of references to R-rated movies. |
|||||||||||
VVVVVV
Brief thoughts: Old style games don't have much to object to - at most, your character will look sad when they touch an obstacle and then restart the area from the last checkpoint. |
|||||||||||
Waking Mars
Brief thoughts: Some Christians have issues with the concept of alien life. If you're not one of those Christians, then you're not really going to find anything objectionable here. |
|||||||||||
Webbed
Brief thoughts: This is a completely family friendly game with no objectionable content. |
|||||||||||
You Must Build a Boat
Brief thoughts: This time around, players will recruit monsters to help them during their adventure, and you'll also have the option to "worship" different fictional gods once you've built a chapel. |
