Glossary Entry: Open Beta
Quick Definition
Unlike a closed beta, this form of a beta test is open to the public. Anyone that wants to become a beta tester may do so, though there may be a fee involved. In other words, you might be able to join in for free, but often beta testers are asked to purchase the still incomplete product at a discounted price beforehand. Of course, if this is the case, then the developers are expected to upgrade the beta testers to the full release when it comes out for no additional fee.
