Glossary Entry: Closed Beta
Quick Definition
This is one of two types of beta tests. In this version, the general public is not allowed to take part. Instead, the developer chooses who gets to be a beta tester. For example, they may select their beta testers from a list of applicants rather than let anyone join in.
Reasons for doing this vary, but I'm fairly confident that you can trust that most developers chose this route for a reason. They might still turn the closed beta into an open beta later on when more of the serious issues have been fixed.
