Game Overview

You know a game is going to be interesting when the title makes people laugh. The name Cats Organized Neatly conjures up all sorts of silly ideas, from cats being placed on shelves in neat little rows to some sort of feline rebellion. While both are examples of cats getting organized, the former is closer to what this game is actually about.

This is a puzzle game about fitting various shapes into a grid. In this case, the pieces just happen to be cats stretched out in various positions. They may need to be rotated in order to fit in the space available, but there is always room for every one of them. Some levels also contain pieces that can't be moved around - those pieces are shown as furniture or houseplants. Once you've managed to properly arrange everyone, the level is over and you're ready to move on to the next challenge.

And that's all this game is - it's a simple puzzle game with a cute cat theme. The result is a quiet little brainteaser that anyone can enjoy, though I suspect it's more suited to the cat owners in the audience.

Points of Interest

Dark mode option

Dark mode options have become incredibly popular recently, likely because they help reduce eye strain when using a computer late in the evening. If you look at the screenshots above, you'll notice that this game is almost entirely an off-white color, which glares in a dimly lit room. Fortunately, the developers have given us the ability to switch their game into a darker color scheme, which is purrfect for some late night puzzle sessions.

80 Levels

All told, there are eighty puzzles for you to complete. Fortunately, if you get stuck on a level, there is an option to skip it and try it again later on. You can also replay any level whenever you want, though there's no prizes for doing so.

Unique DLC option

Normally, DLC for a game would provide additional levels, new skins, or some other all-digital material. The creators of this game decided to do something unique, and made a printable version of the game available as an inexpensive PDF you can purchase. This includes two versions of the cat pieces and printable copies of each puzzle. The second set of cat pieces isn't colored, allowing you to customize your kitties.

Steam community features

There are 20 achievements available for players to earn while solving these puzzles. Only a few are earned through level progression, as they are mostly awarded for doing silly things during the game. As an example, the achievement "Caterwauling" is earned by toggling the sound on and off repeatedly, while there are also achievements for spinning the cats around or just leaving the game on for a few hours.

For those who might be interested, there is also a set of Steam trading cards available.

Concerns and Issues

None

Unless you really dislike cats, there's nothing to be concerned with here, as it's just a cute puzzle game.
