Wall jumping is a popular gameplay mechanic that is found in many platformers and may even appear in 3D games.
The basic idea is that a character can jump off a wall as if they were jumping normally. If the walls are close enough together, repeatedly jumping between them will allow the player to climb up to otherwise unreachable locations.
