Glossary Entry: Stigmata

Definition

Stigmata refers to the injuries that Jesus Christ suffered during His crucifixion, such as the pierced hands and feet, appearing on a living person without explanation.

This is generally treated as a sign of the person being extremely holy, but some horror films and games depict demons or other extremely evil characters with stigmata as a way to highlight how unholy they are.
