Glossary Entry: Stigmata
Quick Definition
This refers to a person manifesting the same injuries (or the sensation of the injuries) that Jesus Christ suffered during His persecution and crucifixion. Specifically, the injuries are the pierced hands and feet, though some appearances may go farther and also include the wound from the guard's lance or the gashes from the crown of thorns.
Experiencing stigmata is generally considered to be a rather holy thing; however, horror stories sometimes have someone (such as a demon) display these wounds as a way of highlighting just how unholy they are.
