Glossary Entry: Kart Racer

A kart racer is a type of racing game where everything is kept very simple. There's no need to worry about engine types, upkeep, damage, money, or anything. You just select your character, the tracks you want to race on, and go. These games also usually provide a means of gathering powerups that will make you go faster or cause an opponent's vehicle to stall out.

On the whole, kart racers are usually very family friendly and are popular games for friends to play together. This is not very surprising, as Nintendo's Super Mario Kart series inspired and defined the genre. It's also why these games are Kart racers instead of Cart racers.
