A fetch quest is a common type of quest in games. As the name implies, you're basically being asked to go find something and bring it back to the NPC that gave you the task.
It's sort of like giving someone a list and sending them off to the grocery store. Note that a good game will make acquiring the items fun and enjoyable; often hiding the items someplace new each time.
