Glossary Entry: fall damage
Quick Definition
There are many ways to be injured in games, but not all of them are universal. "Fall damage" refers to damage or injury that results from falling too far. Generally speaking, the farther you fall, the more you'll be hurt when you land.
However, not all games have their characters take damage from falling. This can result in some rather strange choices -- for example, if a player is on the roof of a skyscraper and needs to return to the ground floor, they may simply opt to jump off the building and plummet to the street rather than take an elevator.
