Glossary Entry: Dungeon Master
Definition
In tabletop role playing games, players work together to create a story about their characters. One player, known as the Dungeon Master or Game Master (DM or GM for short), acts as both the architect of the story and referee of the game. They handle everything the players don't, such as the setting, interactions with NPCs, and any enemies the players are dealing with.
Being a DM requires a large amount of work before the game even begins, as they need to prepare the framework of the adventure. Additionally, a skilled DM will be able to adjust the game so that everyone has fun.
