Glossary Entry: Dialogue Tree

Definition

Dialogue trees are one of the better methods of letting the player "talk" in video games. Whenever it's the player's turn to speak, they are presented with a selection of possible responses and prompted to select one.

Each choice moves the scene along, creating a branching flowchart (or "tree diagram") of possible ways the conversation can go.
