Glossary Entry: Cutscene

Definition

Games often provide additional information to the player by way of short scenes or slide shows. During these events, the action moves away from the game itself, and the player is unable to control what's going on.

Cutscenes are often used to introduce a boss, tell the next part of the game's story, or brief the player on their next objective.

Note that players can't usually replay cutscenes or pause them, so wait for the cutscene to finish before interrupting the player.
