Glossary Entry: Cooldown

A "cooldown" is a forced delay between uses of a special ability or item. The shorter the cooldown, the less time you need to wait before you can use that ability again.

During the cooldown period, many games depict the ability or item's icon in black and white. Over time, the icon is restored to full color, signaling that the cooldown is over.
