Glossary Entry: Coin-op

"Coin-op" is short for a "coin operated arcade machine". These stand alone arcade machines were originally the only way you could play video games. Today, these arcade cabinets are still around, though they are significantly rarer.

On a side note, "coin-op" should not be confused with "co-op", which is a type of multiplayer game.
