Glossary Entry: Cloud Service

As the name implies, this is a service that allows you to use someone else's computer over the internet (ie, a cloud).

Cloud services can simply provide an online storage for files, or they may allow you to run complex or resource intensive programs in specialized environments.

Today, many services offer a free cloud service to allow users to sync their files across multiple devices. For example, Steam offers a cloud service that allows you to resume your saved games from any computer.
