List of Canon Scriptures
An Overview of This Page
The Christian Bible, aka our Holy Scripture, is a collection of documents that were gathered together and compiled into a single Book. Although many of these documents were originally composed as letters or hymnals, we generally refer to them as "Books". Our Bibles contain either 66 or 80 Books, depending on whether or not you're including the Apocrypha.
All 80 Books are listed below, in the order they typically appear in modern Bibles. Generally speaking, people don't need to memorize this list, but having access to a list like this can be useful as there are groups out there that try to treat their own publications as additional scripture. This is often a sign that a group is actually a cult pretending to be a Christian congregation, so be very wary if someone is trying to add to this list.

Additional Notes regarding the Apocrypha
On Esdras...
The Esdras books are a confusing bunch, as their labeling isn't consistent in older texts. Basically, a portion of the Scripture may have been a single document at one point, and it's now split into Ezra and Nehemiah, with two Apocryphal additions. Thus, "1 Esdras" may be labeled as 3 Esdras and "2 Esdras" as 4 Esdras, with Ezra and Nehemiah being 1 and 2 Esdras respectively. This naming system has been an issue for scholars, though references to 1 Esdras appear to be mostly references to the Book of Ezra.
On Esther...
Esther is listed twice, as the Apocrypha provides it with an additional six chapters.
On the Epistle of Jeremy...
The Epistle of Jeremy is not the same letter as the one that became Book of Jeremiah, though it does claim to be by the same person. Also, this is sometimes included as the final chapter of Baruch instead of being set aside as its own text.
On various Books...
The Song of the Three Children, the Story of Susanna, the Idol Bel and the Dragon, and the Prayer of Manasseh are all sometimes included as additions to the Book of Daniel.
On Maccabees...
A 3rd and 4th Maccabees do exist, though they seem to be rejected by the majority of Christianity, including those who consider the Apocrypha to be canon. Thus, they are not listed above.
