Games usually have a preset location for spawning an entity. This location is known as their spawn point.
In multiplayer games, there is typically a spawn point that's used by an entire team. These locations are usually in an out of the way area behind or inside of the team's main base, making it a safe place for players to get their bearings and get ready to join the game. Or at least, this is the ideal; See spawn camping for a problem this can create.
Many games also allow the players to re-assign their individual spawn points. This allows them to create a base of operations wherever they want.
