Side Quest

Quick Definition

A side quest (or side mission, depending on the setting) is an optional quest that does not advance the game's main story.

Completing side quests usually grants various benefits, such as new equipment, XP, loot, and new lore about the game's world. Sticking around and doing all of the side quests in a local area before moving on in the story is often a good idea because of this.
