Glossary Entry: Robospeak

Quick Definition

In fiction, computers and robots are frequently unable to speak properly. Their voices may contain a notable electronic buzz, or they may use very formal or outdated grammar styles. Some AIs aren't able to use contractions, while even less sophisticated AIs end up speaking broken English with notable gaps between words.

This inability to speak normally is usually called robospeak, as it's referring to the way a robot talks.
