Quick Definition

A pixel is the smallest unit of measurement in a digital image. This is directly referenced screen's resolution, which says how many pixels wide and high the screen is.

To be more specific, a pixel is a tiny square that can be any one color. In order to display an image, you need to have a lot of pixels arranged in a grid.
