One-Hit Wonder

Quick Definition

There are two possible meanings for this term, and it's really easy to tell which one is being used.

If we're talking about music, this describes an artist or band that managed to produce a really popular song, but none of their other work was notable or worth a listen. They had one hit song, and that was it.

In games, this describes a character that is defeated the very first time they take any damage. Or in other words, they can only take one hit. Sometimes, this is the protagonist, which means that since even one mistake means failure, the player needs to play exceptionally well to win the game.
