Glossary Entry: Cthulhu

Cthulhu is a giant green octopus headed monster that featured in horror writer H. P. Lovecraft's famous story, The Call of Cthulhu. He has become one of the most well known of Lovecraft's monsters, and is something of a mascot for the Lovecraft Mythos and cosmic horror in general. Interestingly enough, he is also one of the few Lovecraftian horrors who was actually defeated, making his popularity somewhat ironic.
