Glossary Entry: Browser

Quick Definition

Strictly speaking, a browser is a program that lets you view and navigate through various things. In most cases however, "browser" is short for "web browser", which is a program that displays web sites and allows the user to navigate the internet. Popular examples include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera and Lynx.

In other words, it's the program you are currently using to view the contents of this website.
